Acid reflux is defined at chronically having an abnormal reflux of the gastric contents. These contents flow back into your esophagus. If not treated, this can damage your esophagus and ruin your health. The major symptom of acid in your esophagus is heartburn. It also calms nerves, something that can also cause heartburn or an upset stomach. Some people take bitters as herbal remedies for acid reflux as well. Bitter such as gentian root, wormwood, and goldenseal have proved effect in certain people for preventing acid reflux. Bitters can be purchased in both liquid and pill form. Research is patchy, but some have used catnip and fennel as one of the herbal remedies for acid reflux and seen success.
